Newberry Library Cartographic Catalog : map catalog and bibliography of the history of cartography

The Newberry Library holds an estimated 500,000 maps issued separately and in atlases and books. This is a partial catalog of Newberry maps, atlases and literature on specialized topics in the history of cartography, and includes over 80,000 records.

This map catalog is the most complete record of the Newberry's cartographic collections and related reference materials. The Newberry Library map catalog often duplicates, but is separate and distinct from, the Newberry's main online catalog, which includes hundreds of cartographic titles not included here.

Note that approximately 7,300 titles in this catalog are described as "Not at Newberry Library." These items form part of the private collection of Roger Baskes, pending gradual deposit in the Newberry Library. Searching Instructions
---click on the Search button above
---when the search screen displays, select Advanced
---enter a search word or phrase (without quotation marks) in at least one search box, then click on Search
---for example, the Advanced search for Great Lakes Region AND Maps results in over 170 records displayed in order by date of publication between 1600-2007
---re-sort search results by clicking on the Showing Records By menu, select Author, Title, or Subject, and then click Refresh
